I'm so excited to introduce you to the new shape of the Costaboard! 11 years ago, when I shaped the first Costaboard, I knew immediately: "This is it." It was the first balance board that wasn't flat, and I wanted to create a board that felt right - something that was exciting and therefore consistently fun. And so the Costaboard success story began.
In recent years, the Costaboard has undergone many shape changes. I designed the very first board, the "KAOS shape", in KAOS Berlin. It had a strong rocker (the banana shape) and the flat part of the board was in the middle. To outsiders this may seem unimportant, but for us board sport freaks such details are essential. The KAOS shape was fast and unpredictable, which made it difficult for beginners but extremely exciting for experienced riders.
When Costaboard became mainstream, the shape became flatter and more symmetrical to make it easier to get started while still retaining a freestyle character. This design has remained almost unchanged for the last five years. However, the "old school" community that has been following me for 10 years kept asking for a board "like the old days".
So I got back to work. I created the new shape with a new press that I built in the same old-school style as my first one for nostalgic reasons. And I can tell you: the new shape is simply brilliant! The only thing I regret is that I waited so long. No board on the market has this feeling like the Costaboard 2024 - and I've tested almost all of them.
I'm not just saying this to advertise the Costaboard. I want to build the best board with the best ride experience. That's why I've also tested the competitors. I'm happy to say that the current Costaboard simply has the best feel for me. It offers the perfect mix of excitement and movement. Try it yourself - take any board and then stand on the Costaboard!
Now you might be asking yourself: Is this also something for the less motivated? Yes, it is for the simple reason. The learning curve is extremely steep, so you get to the point pretty quickly where you can easily keep your balance and at that point most balance boards get boring, the Costaboard is just getting started ;)
And to all parents: Don't get your children a flat board. Children are incredibly talented and grow with their needs. My little one loves the new board and thinks the flat one is "too boring".
So, to cut a long story short: The old new shape is back with minor changes.
Try it out and experience the incomparable driving experience for yourself.
A few technical details:
- Progressive Rocker Nose
- Symmetrical Rocker Tail
- Nose and tail pockets are flat and ensure a quick braking movement.
Hang loose, Costa
